About the studio

A small Harare studio. Cakes by hand.

The Cake Studio is a working studio in Harare run by Beverley Moyo. We bake wedding cakes, signature flavours, and Roora Day cakes to order, every cake finished by the same hands that started it. We also teach the craft to anyone who wants to learn.

The studio

How we work.

We're a working studio, not a walk-in bakery. Every cake is baked to order, never pulled from a fridge, and finished the morning it's needed. Tastings and consultations are by appointment because the kitchen is busy with someone else's order most days.

Beverley Moyo took the studio from a home kitchen in Madokero Estates to the workshop we run today. The lessons we teach now are the lessons we wished someone had taught us first.

How we bake

Four things we keep promising.

Baked to order

Every cake is baked the day before, never sitting in a fridge waiting for an order. If we don't have time to bake it properly, we say so before you commit.

Real ingredients

Real butter, real cream, named-brand chocolate, fresh fruit when we can get it. We name the brands on request, there's no point pretending otherwise.

Named baker

One named baker is responsible for your cake from first sketch to final delivery. You'll know who's working on it, and they'll know what you asked for.

Taught back

The same techniques we use on commercial orders, we teach in our small-group lessons. The cakes you see in our gallery use methods you can learn.
