Carrot cake designs
Five carrot cake designs we make often.
Carrot cake works in more design directions than people expect. Here are the five styles we get asked for most in Harare, with notes on which works best for which occasion.
1. Naked carrot cake
Visible cream cheese frosting between the layers, sides left bare to show the carrot crumb. Walnut crumble around the rim. The cleanest, most photographed style for an autumn afternoon tea or a small wedding.
2. Smooth-finished tier with sugar carrots
Cream cheese frosting smoothed to a clean side, finished with three sugar-paste carrots and a sprig of piped greenery. The popular birthday-cake design without leaning kitsch.
3. Walnut and pecan crown
Smooth side finish, with a halo of toasted walnuts and pecans pressed around the top edge. Reads grown-up and festive, especially in autumn months.
4. Two-tier carrot wedding cake
Two tiers, both carrot, smooth cream cheese finish with fresh florals between the tiers. Increasingly requested for small Harare weddings (40 to 80 guests). See wedding cakes →
5. Spiced carrot loaf with glaze
A loaf-shape variant for office gifting and corporate hampers, finished with a thin cream cheese glaze and walnut shards. Travels well, slices clean, no plate needed.
6. Carrot cake cupcakes
